Ranked's Plan For AI Search

Hi! I'm Harry, the Founder & CEO of Ranked.

AI search is increasingly becoming more prominent in search. We feel that it is extremely important to prepare our clients for this. I wanted to create an update for clients on what we will be doing (for free, included in all plans) along with actionable items that we will proceed with on your behalf.

To be crystal clear, I personally view this as a major opportunity for businesses. It’s comparable to when Google was first released. Imagine not showing for the first few years and only caring when it was adopted as a mass consumer product? As a business, you need to prepare for the future to thrive. Those that don’t, will fail.

In 2024, we achieved our company growth goals of over 4000 websites under management for SEO. We plan to be a service leader in SEO in 2025 and that will only happen if we prepare for the future.

Here is what we will be focusing on:

1 - AI Indexing

Google Gemini uses Google's Search API, so we are all good there.

ChatGPT currently uses Bing's Search API. It's important that we get a Bing Webmaster Tools account made for your website to get it indexed. When we reach out to you on this, you'll be able to give us access to your webmaster account, or let us know if want us to install one for you.

For Perplexity, Claude & other engines like Meta's Llama, they crawl and index AI friendly sites. For this, you need a robots.txt file that is structured for AI crawlers to easily read your site.

Technical optimization like semantic tags are important for indexing. We will handle all of this for you, free of charge.

2 - NLP Compliance

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is how AI reads data, including pages and content. Having a website that is structured for NLP compliance is extremely important.

On the content side, we have this sorted for you. Most importantly, the flow of an article or page is important for indexing on AI engines. We have a large content team that is trained to structure content compliantly. This is also why we haven’t fully automated our content creation process and firmly believe that this will pay off for our clients in the long run.

If you have any pages that are not NLP compliant, our technical team will reach out to you to resolve it. For example, if you have content inside Javascript, crawlers won’t be able to index it. We will handle whatever comes up for you, but will get your approval before editing your content.

3 - AI Search & Crawler Reporting

As of January 2025, there is no software or reporting tool that provides accurate AI search engine and crawler reporting. The closest software to this currently at scale is Cloudflare (see below), which requires you to use them for your DNS & CDN.

We plan to create our own reporting software for this by the end of Q2, it will sync up with our ODN solution which will track AI crawlers. When released, we will let you know and integrate it into your reporting, free of charge. You can check out our clicks and impressions over the last few days from AI engines, which reinforces that our work is 100% NLP compliant. We always test on our site first! :)

The majority of our impressions and clicks on AI search engines comes from our content. Content will be an important asset as long as it's structured correctly.

4 - Ranked’s Service Plans

We see AI as a deflationary event for services if they do not adapt. As CEO & Founder of Ranked, I have aimed to make us not only reasonably priced, but to also deliver significant value to our clients. We understand that the value proposition of services will decrease over time if they do not adjust for the future. We plan to stay ahead of the curve.

You can be assured that Ranked is structuring deliverables for the future of search. It’s an honor to have you as a client and we need to deliver genuine value to retain your business. We plan to continue to add deliverables to our SEO plans with no charge when guidance becomes clearer from AI search providers. Until then, our job is to get you ready so that when they become a mass consumer product, you are indexing, getting sales, and have a long term sales channel that lasts.
